Mechanism design for stake weighted QOS
On Solana, there have been instances where there are more transactions at the network layer than nodes are able to process, often due to malicious attacks. Max Resnick (Special Mechanisms Group) describes how Solana currently addresses this via using stake weighted quality of service where certain network connections to the leader in a slot are reserved for nodes with large amounts of stake. Max explains some of the negative side effects of this approach along with proposing a new auction based approach that addresses some of these downsides.
